With an overarching mission to eliminate ageism and ensure the dignity and quality of life of approximately 1.775 million older New Yorkers, the NYC Department for the Aging is deeply committed to helping older adults age in their homes and creating a community-care approach that reflects a model age-inclusive city.
NYC Department for the Aging -Silver Corps Program is funded under the AmeriCorps Senior Demonstration Project (SDP) as a three year pilot initiative to serve older adults seeking entry into the workforce. The program will give opportunity to older adults to volunteer in community assignments while obtaining training/credentialing in high demand industries/sectors with the ultimate goal of securing gainful employment.
NYC Aging Silver Corps Program seeks a highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual to assist Older Adult clients with providing service to their communities while securing credentials/certifications in "in-demand sectors". The goal is to help assist clients to secure employment after completing the Silver Corp program.
Primary responsibilities of the Associate Job Developer include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting orientations, workshops, individual assessments, and other programmatic duties as assigned by the Program Director.
- Entering, tracking, and analyzing program data; actively participate in developing a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) culture.
- Developing and executing plans to build and sustain a pool of quality employers, training partners, host sites, and other stakeholders that will position program participants for success.
- Assess, demand and gather input from stakeholders to better understand the workforce development needs of older adults.
- Engage employers in defining workforce needs, identifying hiring challenges and opportunities, and specifying skills and proficiencies needed to fill available roles; develop and refine talent recruitment models and processes based on employer information that help to connect Silver Corps participants to high-quality career opportunities.
- Developing and sharing insights from interactions with industry and sectors across NYC, to enhance employer and training engagement strategies.
- Providing necessary support to Silver Corp Program graduates to maintain employment; verify and distribute milestone awards.
- Attending internal/external meetings.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Program Director.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
- Experience in NYC workforce development ecosystem. - Experience working with older adult population. - Experience in human/social services and/or volunteer programs. - Strong understanding of resources and services available to clients to help them meet their training and employment goals. - Strategic thinker with the ability perform complex tasks and manage multiple projects with limited supervision and in a timely manner. - Experience in building trust and fostering collaboration with clients and program partners. - Proven ability to prioritize, be assertive, detailed oriented, self-starting and a willingness to take ownership and follow through. - Ability to read, write and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals. - Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. - Ability to work in fast paced environment, while promoting a collaborative work environment. - Bilingual (Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian) language a plus. - Ability to travel to NYC locations and required meetings.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
