SEASONAL TEMP POSITIONS

The New York City Housing Authority is seeking a Community Service Aide for the Resident Relocations Services Department. This role is to support relocation of NYCHA residents at developments where planned major modernization or unplanned urgent repairs are required, including repairs to address health and safety issues. Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Community Service Aide assists in conducting the Intake Survey and Moving Assessments.

The Community Service Aide duties will also be responsible for the following:

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist in providing community services by performing liaison functions between the agency and residents.
- Connect resident with interpretation services in accordance with the agencies Language Assistance Service Policy.
- Help clients fill out and submit forms.
- Assist with intake procedures, resident follow-up, and hotel invoice retrievals.
- Work to improve tenant-management relations in the New York City Housing Authority.
- Conduct resident surveys and contact NYCHA residents to collect needed information related to resident’s need for relocation.
- Assist in the direction of tenant meetings and other relocation related activities.
- Interpret and discuss the Resident Relocation Services Department’s Standard Procedures with individual tenants, community leaders, and other community stakeholders.
- Set up and coordinate schedules of Relocation activities.
- Distribute informational material to residents and internal/external stakeholders doing business with the Housing Authority, as necessary.
- Perform routine office tasks, such as data-entry, filing, keeping records (physical and digital), and answering telephones and making referrals or taking messages.

Minimum Qualifications

The ability to understand and carry out simple instructions; in some cases the ability to speak Spanish may be required. There are no formal education requirements for this position.


Preferred Skills

- Excellent communication skills, a strong sense of community, and a willingness to serve the public. Experience in community service or related fields is a plus. - This position requires both office work and field work, including visits to homes, hotels, etc., within the five boroughs of New York City.
