ONS is seeking an Assistant Director of Community Activation an operationally excellent, systems-oriented leader who will ensure the Crisis Management System network functions with rigor, accountability, and precision. This role is central to how ONS manages one of the most complex community violence intervention portfolios in the country.

The position will report to the Senior Director of the Crisis Management System. The ideal candidate brings deep operational and program management expertise, ideally from government, public health, social services, or a comparably complex service-delivery environment.

This is a management and accountability role that requires a candidate who can hold a large network of providers to contractual and programmatic standards, build and improve systems of accountability, and untangle procedural hurdles faced by providers and staff.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of satisfactory, relevant, full-time, experience in criminal justice, in community planning, community relations, development and organization including one (1) year in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial, or executive capacity; or 2. A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to “ 1 ” above. However, all candidates must have one (1) year of specialized experience as described in “ 1 ” above

Preferred Skills

- 5+ years of progressive experience in program management, operations, or public administration - Expertise in community violence intervention, public health, or criminal justice reform - Demonstrated track record managing large, complex portfolios of contracts, programs, or service-delivery organizations - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills ability to identify systemic issues and design operational solutions - Experience working in or with government agencies, nonprofit networks, or large-scale social service systems - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills ability to present to senior officials and community stakeholders alike - Comfort operating in a fast-paced, politically complex environment Preferred - Experience overseeing networks of community-based organizations - Experience with NYC government contracting, budget systems, or regulatory frameworks - Knowledge of the Cure Violence model or evidence-based violence intervention approaches
