Job Description
Our growing Facilities Unit is currently in need of a responsible individual with a team player attitude to fill the position of Assistant Deputy Chief of Facilities - Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of 100 Church Street (4 floors and 2 basement levels) and 233 Broadway, 5th 12th 14th and 15th floors. The Assistant Deputy Chief of Facilities - Services will also supervise custodial staff and assist with supervising maintenance workers and clerical staff.
Assistant Deputy Facilities Chief - Services will be responsible for the day to day maintenance and upkeep of 2 office buildings with a total of 10 floors. Asst. Deputy will also be responsible for monitoring all work assignment, work orders, and special projects assigned to the custodial and maintenance worker staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Reporting directly to the Deputy Chief of Facilities - Service, the Assistant Deputy Facilities Chief’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Drive the agency large box truck and/or cargo vans to and from Bush Terminal and other Law Department locations within the 5 boroughs to pick up and/or deliver supplies, files, furniture and large equipment.
- Review and distribute daily work assignments to custodial staff.
- Review and follow up on Early Bird reports from custodial staff. Submit weekly status report to Deputy Chief of Facilities - Services.
- Coordinate scheduled internal vehicle inspections, vehicle detailing and washing bi-weekly with Facilities Central.
- Review, coordinate and oversee assigned facilities related projects which include refresh projects, minor construction projects, furniture installation projects and data cabling projects at 100 Church Street.
- Handle HVAC issues with contracted vendor and ensure preventive maintenance schedules are completed on time.
- Submit expenditure request for vendor services as needed.
- Directly supervise building custodians who provide building maintenance and staff support services.
- Monitor the daily maintenance and upkeep of all floors including the basement and sub- basement areas at 100 Church Street by the custodial staff. This also includes providing e-mail updates of your findings to the Deputy Chief of Facilities and staff.
- Coordinate and supervise overtime project as needed.
- Keep accurate supply records on the P-drive for all custodial supplies given to staff.
- Approve staff timesheets and e-form overtime as needed.
- Supervise special projects as needed.

Two years of full-time satisfactory experience in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings.
To be assigned to Assignment Level II, candidates must have three years of satisfactory experience as described in the "Qualification Requirements" above.
To be assigned to Assignment Level III and IV candidates must have four years of satisfactory experience as described in the "Qualification Requirements" above.
