Assistant City Highway Repairers assist in performing lane closures on highways and on local streets for Bridge Inspection. Assists in maintaining the Bridge Inspection vehicles and heavy duty equipment such as back up trucks, vans, cars, SUV, bucket trucks, Snooper for PM, Inspection and Repair. Operate and drive heavy duty equipment such as back up trucks, vans, bucket trucks, snooper. Perform emergency inspection duties on regular hours and also nights and weekends. Assist maintaining inspection tools, supply inventory in the yard and in the office. Carry inspection tools, fiber glass extension ladder in the field at all times. Cleans debris in the yard and in the field as necessary. Chipping concrete using bucket truck under the bridge. Working over the heights for bridge inspection and maintenance work. Assist Supervisor and Team Leader in the field as needed. Required to work on off hours and weekends to perform bridge inspection work. Performs other related duties.

Qualification Requirements

2. There are certain medical and physical requirements.
License Requirement
A Driver License valid in the State of New York is required at the time of appointment. A Class B Commercial Driver License is required within ninety days of the date of appointment. There may be certain age requirements to obtain this license.

Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. . Preference given to candidates possessing CDL Class A License. Experience laying concrete, sheet asphalt and other kinds of pavement strongly desired. A copy of the Driver’s license must be enclosed with the resume.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
