Job Description Summary:
The position of Assistant Agency Photographer encompasses responsible work of varying degrees of difficulty and responsibility performed under supervision of the Senior Agency Photographer and/or Facilities Management. Under supervision, with some latitude for independent judgment and initiative, the candidate will be responsible for the photographic needs of the agency. The position requires that the individual be knowledgeable in the use of a DSLR camera and video recording equipment. The Assistant Agency Photographer will be expected to perform various duties while maintaining accurate equipment records and work related assignments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Drive to different sites within the 5 boroughs to perform various photo assignments using an agency vehicle.
- Coordinate case related site visits and evidence inspections with attorneys and/or legal support staff.
- Photograph Law Department personnel for Court access identity cards and employee of the month plaques.
- Provide application for and instructions on how to apply for a court access identity cards.
- Provide photographic coverage at agency events.
- Catalogue & maintain digital image files and video recordings.
- Edit digital images as well as video footage from various sources.
- Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the unit’s audio visual equipment.
- Coordinate with staff and vendors to report and resolve equipment issues.
- Maintain agency’s digital signage equipment and content.
- Some of the physical activities performed and environmental conditions experienced include; lifting and carrying equipment, standing for long periods of time, climbing stairs and traveling throughout the City in all kinds of weather conditions, often carrying equipment.
- Maintain the agency’s floor plans by using Aperture software program and or ProLease and CAD software.
- Assist facilities staff with borough runs and supply deliveries as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

1. Three years of full-time paid satisfactory experience acquired within the last ten years as a professional photographer; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional, or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including or supplemented by 12 credits in photography, and two years of full-time paid satisfactory experience as described in "1" above; or
3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional, or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including or supplemented by 24 credits in photography, and one year of full-time paid satisfactory experience as described in "1" above.

Note: Experience in film and camera sales is not acceptable. Experience as an amateur photographer such as that acquired in a hobby or leisure time activity is not acceptable.


Preferred Skills

Skills Requirement - Valid NYS Driver’s License Required - Candidate should have a working knowledge of digital editing tools and techniques along with proper image exposure knowledge. - Proficiency in Adobe Light-room, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, & Final Cut Pro X. - Ability to interact with division personnel and contracted vendors. - Willingness to learn technical processes and strong communication skills are a must.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
