Job Description
Under supervision of the Director or designee, candidate will perform complex supervisory work involved in managing Residential Painting. Overall responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
1. Write, develop and interpret specifications.
2. Lead on the paint restoration for the fire initiative emergency responses.
3. Evaluate quality control inspections.
4. Conduct and administer field demonstrations.
5. Prepare various summaries and reports.
6. Supervise staff of 50+.
7. May represent department at intra/interagency meetings.
8. Coordinate repair work with other trade supervisors to completion of work.
9. Oversee Painting Unit including train staff; monitor work performance.
10. Interpret contract specifications and provide administrative oversight for paint related contracts as needed.
Additional Information
1. This position is open on a direct transfer (lateral) basis only. It is not open as a promotional opportunity.
2. This position carries an assignment differential.
3. A Driver’s License valid in the State of New York is required for this assignment.
4. Must use employee-owned vehicle to get to locations citywide.
5. Due to the existence of a civil service list, candidates must have permanent civil service status in the title of Supervisor Painter to apply.
6. For NYCHA employees, employees applying for transfer, promotional, title or level change opportunities must have served a period of one year at current location and in current title and level (if applicable).

SUPERVISOR PAINTER - 91873
Education and Experience Requirements: By the last day of the Application Period you must have:
1. Six years of full time satisfactory experience as a painter acquired within the last fifteen years, one year of which must have been spent performing the duties of a supervising painter; or
2. Not less than four years of such experience plus sufficient training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of the remaining required experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of approved trade or vocational school.
However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as a supervising painter acquired within the last fifteen years.
1. Broad based knowledge of contract & specifications writing and administration. 2. Well verse in the use of Oracle, Maximo, Kronos and Movaris. 3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel and Word, Smartsheet & other programs. 4. Minimum of three years contract inspection experience. 5. Thorough knowledge of labor/material estimating for complex paint projects. 6. Demonstrated knowledge of various coating systems and applications. 7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 8. Demonstrated ability to organize data and interpret analytical results. 9. Working knowledge of environmental and safety regulations as they pertain to painting. 10. Working knowledge of environmental and safety regulations as they pertain to NYCHA's Painting Program and maintenance operation.
