TASK FORCE: INFORMATION SYSTEMS

UNIT: Data Analytics and Reporting

JOB TITLE: One (1) Assistant Analyst / Analyst / Senior Analyst (Data Analyst)

SUMMARY:

The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.

Within OMB, the Information Systems Task Force supports the agency’s staff by providing the hardware and software necessary for budget preparation and analysis. The Task Force’s Data Analytics and Reporting Unit provides support for financial reporting and analysis, publication support during the financial plan process, and data analytics and reporting solutions to the OMB user community.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

- Perform data wrangling, data mining, and data modeling
- Design, build, and maintain ETL processes
- Create, maintain, and support business intelligence applications (mainly reports and data extracts), and Access databases
- Provide quality customer support to a diverse group of internal users
- Deliver results with accuracy and urgency during/after financial plan, and on multiple projects


Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college.


Preferred Skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Excellent analytical, quantitative, and technical skills/aptitude - Hands-on experience including, but is not limited to, Crystal Reports, Power BI, Microsoft Access, Excel, SQL queries, relational databases, and data modeling - Strong coding background with either Python, R, VBA, or Java - Highly motivated self-starter, willingness to learn, and desire to succeed - Able to work independently or collaborate with a team - Strong work ethic, attention to detail, organizational skills, and adaptable - Willingness to learn new technologies - Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
