Job Description

The NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) seeks a recent law school graduate interested in starting a career in equal employment opportunity (EEO) investigation and program initiatives. The qualified candidate will join the EEO and Fair Housing (FH) Investigations Unit as an Attorney Interne Investigator reporting to a Deputy Director and dotted line report to the Vice President & EEO Officer.
The EEO and FH Investigations Unit is situated within NYCHA’s Office of EEO, Fair Housing, and Access Services. (EFAS).

This position requires strong writing and analytical skills, and the ability to work productively in a team setting.

Responsibilities of the successful candidate will include the following:

- Intake employee complaints, conduct preliminary interviews with employees and residents to assess whether the issue warrants an investigation.
- Analyze EEO issues and conduct internal investigations of EEO and fair housing complaints.
- Conduct interviews with parties and witnesses.
- Draft investigative finding reports.
- Research legal cases, EEO policies, or other regulations as necessary.
- Assist in EEO program, special projects, or trainings, as needed.
- Provide other support and guidance to employees and managers as needed, under guidance from either the Deputy Director or Vice President & EEO Officer.

NOTE: This is a wonderful opportunity to start a public service career within the City of New York, and with career advancements and promotions within EFAS once admitted to the NYS Bar. EFAS offers hybrid remote work as well.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited United States law school as defined in the Rules of the New York Court of Appeals (Sections 520.3 or 520.5) or admission to the New York State Bar.


Preferred Skills

- Strong written and oral communication skills. - Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines. - Ability to implement new EEO programs under supervision. - Knowledge of EEO and Fair Housing laws and policies a plus.
