Job Description
The Legal unit handles all relevant legal issues in the following areas of the law: CPLR Article 78 proceedings, pensions and benefits, Employment Law, Family Law (Domestic Relations Orders, Income Execution Orders, Temporary Restraining orders), Freedom of Information Law, Open Meetings Law, and the Trust, Powers, and Estates Law (Powers of Attorney, Letters Testamentary, Spousal Right of Inheritance).

Under the supervision of the Deputy General Counsel, the Agency Attorney will receive training and practical experience in the Fund’s legal work. Specifically, the Agency Attorney is responsible for legal research, verifying pleadings, facilitating the implantation of court orders, and basic office administration.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform legal research;
- Draft internal memoranda to various members of the executive staff;
- Communicate, in writing and verbally, with members and attorneys; scan and maintain related files;
- Maintain caseload of matrimonial cases, including review and implementation of proposed and certified Domestic Relations Orders and support enforcement orders; assist paralegal in such effort;
- Assist with preparing files and verifying pleadings in Article 78 proceedings;
- Perform other special projects as may be required.

Salary: The hiring rate being offered for this position is contractual and non-negotiable. A successful candidate will be made an offer of $70,228. No other salary offer will be made.

NOTE: This is a full-time on-site position. The incumbent will be required to report to the office on a regular basis.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited United States law school as defined in the Rules of the New York Court of Appeals (Sections 520.3 or 520.5) or admission to the New York State Bar.


Preferred Skills

- Proficiency in West Law (including WestLaw Edge) - Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products.
