The Office of the Brooklyn Borough President is seeking a sharp, seasoned Advisor to join our high-impact team. If you’re someone who thrives on big challenges, can navigate the halls of government with ease, and know how to turn complex problems into real-world solutions, we want to hear from you. As Senior Advisor, you’ll serve as a chief strategist and trusted counselor to the Borough President. You’ll work closely with senior staff and policy teams, helping shape legislative priorities, drive communications, and manage relationships with key stakeholders at every level inside and outside government. Your judgment, discretion, and experience will help guide the office through fast-moving events, tough decisions, and long-term planning.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Advise the Borough President on policy, communications, and political strategy
- Analyze legislative and policy proposals, distill complex issues, and recommend action
- Coordinate with legislative, communications, and outreach teams to ensure unified messaging and strategic alignment
- Represent the office in high-level meetings with government officials, community leaders, and constituents
- Monitor emerging issues, anticipate challenges, and identify opportunities to advance the Borough President’s agenda
- Draft briefing memos, talking points, and strategic plans for the Borough President’s and senior staff
COMMUNITY COORDINATOR - 56058
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
- Experience with crisis management and rapid response - Strong existing network in government, advocacy, or media circles - Background in maternal healthcare and housing - Familiarity with New York City government or agency processes. - At least two (2) years of relevant supervisory experience - Exceptional organizational, analytical abilities, management, and interpersonal skills. - Strong oral and legal writing skills. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Adobe editor preferred. - Extensive knowledge of communities in Brooklyn and local government is a strong plus. - Fluency in a language other than English, especially Spanish, Haitian Kreyol, Russian, Polish, Bangla, and Urdu, is a plus. - An understanding of Community Boards and familiarity with providing technical assistance to them are a strong plus. - A strong commitment to the values and vision articulated by Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, a prerequisite for fulfilling the advisor role.
