The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the nation’s largest public housing authority, with an operating budget of $3.3 billion and approximately 10,600 employees who manage and maintain 325 developments that house over 400,000 residents. NYCHA also operates the country’s largest Section 8 program, which provides rental assistance to over 200,000 additional families.

The selected candidate will perform duties under the supervision of the Senior Director/Director of Pest Management.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
1. Conduct Strategic and needs assessment analyses for pest control field; develop and execute strategic plans and ensure continuous improvement of operations and customer satisfaction.
2. Direct, supervise and lead full-time and temporary staff. Maintain performance standards. Oversee time and attendance of direct reports and address performance concerns. Train and coach
staff and develop performance standards with subordinates to reach, or exceed, standards on a continuous basis. Initiate any corrective steps to modify or correct performance problems.
3. Diagnose problems in timely manner, evaluate and develop alternative courses of action with realistic objectives and time frames, and recommend and/or implement effective solutions with
proper documentation of analysis and results.
4. Train and mentor staff to follow established authority policies and procedures when dealing with extermination services, pesticide reporting and other programs.
5. Schedule work, monitor performance, and manage inventory.
6. Represent NYCHA in meetings.
7. Prepare reports and presentations for external and internal partners on program progress.
8. Coordinate repairs for pesticide storage rooms.
9. Evaluates and approves request for overtime.
10. On an Authority-wide basis, plans and coordinates extermination, and maintenance work relating to extermination work projects.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements
Six years of recent, satisfactory, full-time, paid progressively responsible experience in the one of the following trades in which the incumbent is to be employed: painting, carpentry, bricklaying, electrical work, plastering, plumbing or roofing, at least 18 months of which must have been as a foreman.

For appointment to the skilled trade specialty of Electrical Work, possession of a valid license as a Special Electrician issued by the New York City Department of General Services is required.

For appointment to the skilled trade specialty of Plumbing, possession of a valid Master Plumber license issued by the New York City department of Buildings is required.

Education at an accredited college or university in engineering, architecture or a related field may be substituted for general experience (but not for the 18 months of foreman experience described above) at the rate of one year of college for six months of experience up to a maximum of four years of college for two years of experience.


Preferred Skills

1. Experience in the civil service title of Housing Examinator at assignment level 4. 2. Possess extensive knowledge and experience in Integrated Pest Management. 3. Well versed in Maximo/Work order and review process. 4. Six years of satisfactory, full-time, paid progressively responsible experience in extermination with at least 18 months of supervisory experience.
