Review and release permits from the NYC Streets system submitted by all utility companies, city agencies and contractors, to work on NYC streets, which fall under Capital Planning In-house holds and Street Arterial Maintenance holds. Interpret and review technical sketches of planned roadway work to assign correct restoration stipulations for permits. Coordinate with utility companies and other contractors regarding present and future paving schedules to ensure cooperation with Roadway Repair and Maintenance’s paving schedules. Assist with conflict checking and coordination with utility companies, various DOT units, private contractors and building operations. Record and track all permittee conflicts on pending and active permits, delays and skipped locations as well as update Borough Planner, Deputy Director and Director of Brooklyn Street Maintenance. Coordinate repairs on milled roadways with various agencies and contractors. Assist Borough Planner with chairing monthly utility meetings with utility companies, divisions within DOT, and other agencies for review of seasonal/annual resurfacing schedules for potential conflicts. Assist Borough Planner in preparing annual resurfacing schedule, milling task orders, planning reports and weekly schedules. Communicate daily to resolve pre-milled and pre-paved locations to expedite project completion. Assist with ensuring collection of crew sheets and electronic field documents for costing reports. Assists with completion of costing reports.
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
Attention to details. Experience in effectively interacting with and resolving conflicts issues from officials outside the organization (state administrators, auditors, etc.). Effective at providing accurate summaries, analyses, and justifications. Excellent liaison abilities, Ability to coordinate the transfer of information from field offices into format suitable for official document submission.
