The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community.
The Division of Policy, Planning and Measurement (PPM) collaborates with every ACS division to guide systems analysis and strategic systems improvement; assure quality of practice at ACS and its provider agencies; professionalize the frontline workforce; bring knowledge into practice; provide research and analytic support; and plan and develop new programs and policies.

Our mission is to support leaders working within public and private child welfare and juvenile justice agencies in New York City to foster psychologically safe work environments that embrace equity, transparency and innovation while supporting the workforce. Reporting to the Executive Director of the ACS Institute for Leadership Development (ILD), the primary function of the Administrative Coordinator will be to work with and support the Executive Director with special projects, including the implementation of a variety of adult learning opportunities, utilizing the leadership framework competencies set forth by the National Child Welfare Workforce Institute.
The Administrative Coordinator will also provide support to the broad ACS Office of Training and Workforce Development (OTWD) and its leadership team, as well as its CUNY partners and consultants to ensure good communication and the timeliness of deliverables.
Responsibilities:
- Support the overall vision, strategic plan and communication plan. Be the vector through which feedback and activities of the ACS ILD are communicated from plan development to implementation.
- Provide daily administrative support to the Executive Director of the ACS ILD and coordination/support to the broad ACS OTWD and its leadership team, as well as its CUNY partners and consultants.
- Manage the schedule of the Executive Director to ensure that all appointments are coordinated and maintained in a timely manner.
- Attend meetings with senior ACS leadership, as required and necessary to fulfill the needs of the department and to support the timely meeting of the deliverables.
- Coordinate and support the collaboration of projects between the entities of the ACS OTWD and its CUNY partners.
- Coordinate ongoing consultant partnerships within the CUNY system, as well as other partners in the community and within other ACS divisions.
- Coordinate research activities being done on behalf of strategic planning activities within the ACS ILD.
- Provide administrative support to the broad ACS ILD team, with items related to Personnel, Facilities, OIT, Telecom, and other divisions as they arise.
- Support onboarding needs for new staff and consultants.
- Attend trainings and meetings as indicated.
- May be tasked with additional responsibilities as the need arises.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred. The preferred candidate should possess the ability to work on multiple projects effectively and efficiently, both independently and collaboratively within a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills, familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, project management experience and strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required. The candidate should be adaptable and flexible to changing environments, as well as open to new ideas and feedback, and have an orientation towards participatory culture, racial equity, and being strengths-based.
