YOU MUST BE PERMANENT IN THE CLERICAL ASSOCIATE TITLE OR IF YOU ARE HIRED PROVISIONALLY AS A CLERICAL ASSOCIATE III, YOU MUST TAKE AND PASS THE CLERICAL ASSOCIATE CIVIL SERVICE EXAM WHEN IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.

The Bureau of Case Integrity & Eligibility Verification’s mission is to identify system enhancements to improve claiming and to avoid overpayments, as well as working with program areas to prevent potential errors by reviewing records of Cash Assistance and analyzing their contents for material that might retroactively identify Federal and State obligations that had not previously been recognized.

The Office of Revenue Management & Development (ORMD) is requesting to fill a vacant Clerical Associate III position in the Case Integrity Division to function as an Administrative Clerk who will:

- Process Turnaround Documents (TADs), assisting in the processing of Duplicate Client Identification Number (CIN) reviews with the goal of ending duplication.

- Process TADs in the Paperless Alternate Module system for Social Security Validation review in effort to reduce fraud and avoid state disallowances.

- Perform clerical assignments such as data entry and preparation of spreadsheets for claim adjustments; perform case record reviews, computer clearances and WMS and NYCWAY analysis.

- Initiate the review of safety net cases found to be potentially eligible for federally-reimbursed category, by utilizing the Welfare Management System (WMS) to prepare claim study folders by inserting WMS and HRA Viewer printouts of Safety Net Cases and to be forwarded to Field Eligibility Verification Specialists for analysis.

- Scan, index, and maintain current filing system.

- Maintain strict control on the disposition of claims for submission by state prescribed deadlines.

- Schedule meetings, answer telephones to disseminate information to callers, take messages, reserve conference rooms as well as order and dispense supplies, troubleshoot and report problems with office equipment.

Schedule: Monday to Friday: 9:am to 5 pm.


Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
