NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.
DOF’s Tax Policy & Data Analytics Division reviews, analyzes, and evaluates existing and proposed policies and legislation that affect the Department of Finance and New York City in general. This includes analyzing the revenue and distributional impacts of proposed changes to the tax system, monitoring and reporting on tax and parking revenues, working with local and state public agencies and private sector interests to promote improved tax administration, and advising the commissioner, Executive Office, and the New York City Office of Management and Budget on revenue and budgetary issues. The Tax Policy and Data Analytics Division is also responsible for all modeling and data mining for DOF’s Audit Division. Tax Policy also prepares briefing and position papers on tax policy and issues a variety of public reports and newsletters on tax-related issues.
The Tax Policy Division is seeking a well-organized and motivated individual to provide administrative support, reporting directly to the Senior Administrative Operations Coordinator for the Tax Policy & Data Analytics Division.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Provide general administrative support for day-to-day tasks of the executive office.
-Assist with overseeing the hiring actions for the division, which include filling vacancies and coordinating with Employee Services, including preparation and submission of job posting requests, promotions, and on-boarding documents.
-Prepare management/executive level reports, update organization charts, travel requests, and subscription renewals, maintain the Deputy Commissioner's calendar, schedule candidate interviews.
-Assist with the division's procurement budget and PS.
-Serve as a liaison for time keeping system, including addressing time & leave issues and DOF special events.
-Maintain confidential filing system and IRS security log.
-Ensure unit's compliance in meeting Task & Standards and Performance Evaluation completion deadlines.
-Track and monitor daily Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) returned mail correspondence.
-Handle incoming and outgoing correspondences for the units.
-Assist with division's special projects when needed.

This position will require employees to have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to an additional background investigation before appointment. The candidate(s) will be required to pass the FTI background investigation as a term and condition of employment.
PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOC - 10124
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills. -Strong organizational skills. -Detailed oriented and able to handle multiple assignments. -Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. -A strong working knowledge of MS Office is required. -Knowledge of PassPort and Smart Recruiters portals is a plus.
