The Teachers’ Retirement System of the City of New York (TRS) is a public pension fund that provides New York City educators with retirement, disability, and death benefits. We are seeking dynamic individuals to join our team as RMD Pension Interns. If you have a passion for accounting and retirement planning, this opportunity is perfect for you.
Responsibilities:
- RMD Management: A Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) is the amount of money that must be withdrawn from an employer-sponsored retirement plan, by owners and qualified retirement plan participants of retirement age. You'll be responsible for reviewing and processing a substantial volume of forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Loan and Withdrawal Review: Assist the unit in reviewing loan and withdrawal applications. Your keen eye for detail will ensure that all requests are processed efficiently and accurately.
- Data Cleanup: Participate in the unit's data cleanup efforts related to loans and withdrawals. You'll review and classify work items based on specific criteria, contributing to the overall efficiency and accuracy of our systems.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Strong analytical, communication, and mathematical skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
As of June of the Program year the prospective interne must be a student matriculated in a college or be a recent college graduate (winter/spring term of the Program year).
NOTE: Appointment to this title is only valid for the duration of the Program, June - August each year.
