Job Description

The successful candidate will serve as an Accounting Associate reporting to the Finance Division within the NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC). Responsibilities will include:
- Perform accounting and administrative duties relative to processing, recording, and reporting of financial transactions.
- Check, verify and process vendor invoices, intra-city invoices, and contract payments.
- Process payments in FMS and generate reporting on expenditures.
- Compile and prepare financial reports.
- Analyze key financial data.
- Track and maintain financial transactions and returned checks processes.
- Collect funds from business units and process in FMS and internal computerized systems.
- Maintain files and records, prepare record keeping inventory, manage filing space and storage.
- Collaborate and communicate with other units, customers, and vendors.
- Review supporting documentation. Reconcile and resolve discrepancies.
- Work on special projects and other ad hoc projects.
- Perform related administrative tasks.
Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
Experience with the city's financial management systems including FMS and PASSport ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines strong quantitative and reporting skills strong analytic, problem solving, and time management skills advanced skill level with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint programs advanced proficiency with spreadsheet applications excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail excellent research and documentation skills experience documenting business processes and implementing solutions ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and ability to excel in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
