Job Description
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.
In this exciting role, you will be a contributor to DEP’s GIS unit in the administration of Enterprise GIS systems and solutions. You will assist in the development of GIS applications by retrieving data from various sources. You will edit and analyze the data to create mapping solutions, dashboards, and models to support the agency mission.
SUMMER GRADUATE INTERN - 10232
Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college, university or law school.
Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the graduate level. Student must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) Familiarity with ArcGIS Online (map creation, content sharing through groups, data implementation, etc.) Proficiency in Esri ArcGIS software (data and service consumption in addition to basic feature editing). Knowledge of how external and internal data sets can be integrated into maps and customized. Leadership skills self-motivation and ability to work well with minimal supervision. Strong writing skills effective interpersonal skills.
